Essex Libraries: Summer Reading Challenge 2024
Primary school children can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge and have fun with reading over the holidays. This summer challenge runs from 20 July to 7 September 2024 with a special early joiner day on Saturday 13 July. Children can read any library book of their choice. Whether it's fiction, non-fiction, picture books, or books they share with parents and carers – they all count! Plus, as a special bonus this year, we’re giving away a free limited edition book when you sign up to the challenge.
There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:
- You can join at your local library and take part in person. The librarian will give you a collector folder, stickers, and other special rewards, and help you find books to read.
- Or, take part online by signing up here. Set a reading goal and log your books on your profile. When you reach your goal you will unlock a virtual badge and certificate.
- Please note, the in-person and online Challenges are separate. Physical incentives like medals and certificates are only available via the library, for those taking part in the in-person Challenge.
