Mind in West Essex: Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is for people who are experiencing a mental health crisis but do not require hospital treatment. We are open from 4pm – 11pm, 365 days a year. Your details will be forwarded to the Sanctuary Team who will make contact with you as soon as possible. Our team can talk by phone, text or invite you into our Sanctuary Spaces.
We’re there from 4-11pm in Harlow every day, Dunmow on Tuesdays, Saffron Walden on Thursdays, Stansted Mountfitchet on Fridays and Epping on Saturday. Daylight Workers are in Loughton, Dunmow, Harlow and Saffron Walden, this is flexible though based on the needs of the service. You will be supported by a friendly and caring listener, given information around coping strategies and how to access any help you may need. We can only accept people who have been referred into the service, there is no drop-in.
You can also use The Stay Alive app, developed by Grassroots Suicide Prevention. It is a suicide prevention resource for the UK, packed full of useful information and tools to help you stay safe in crisis. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide.
