Lambourne End Centre - Food for Thought

Lambourne End Centre -Food for Thought is a health and wellbeing project, engaging people in meaningful activities, learning new skills, keeping fit and developing confidence in calming surroundings. Individuals work on the land planting, nurturing and harvesting fruit and veg. This improves their self-esteem, mental and physical well-being and self-worth, ultimately assisting with their integration into society. There is a charge for this service.

Food for Thought operates on weekdays from around 9.30am - 3.00pm. Activities vary from day to day and are mainly outdoors on the gardens, but include indoor tasks such as making jams and germinating seeds. Three members of staff (the project coordinator, senior horticultural support worker and a horticultural support worker). Group sizes range from 3-9 people, and one-to-one/personal care must be self-sourced if needed.

Who can use this service?

Self-funded placements are available to disadvantaged and vulnerable people living in West Essex (Epping, Uttlesford and Harlow) including those with learning difficulties, special educational needs, mental illness and those Not in Education or Employment. 

Our learning programmes have a daily cost which is paid depending on the programme so it might be local authority, individuals or schools.

How are services delivered?

Food for Thought is face to face at our centre every weekday from 9.30am - 3pm.

The Centre is not on a bus route so transport will need to be self-sourced.
